The Gnostic Temple of the Pearl

The Hymns of the Pearl emerged  from a vibrant community of “spiritual athletes” who take the spirit seriously, but not somberly.  We call our community the Gnostic Temple of the Pearl. It is from this community, that the Hymns of the Pearl have sprung.

As Christian Gnostics, we use all the tools we can to help us on our spiritual journey.  Some of the tools we use are the following:

  Study of scriptures, ancient and modern

  Inspirational writings

  Meditation and prayer

  Yoga and chanting

  Icon making

  Integration rituals

  Singing sacred hymns

Gnostic Christianity is a Way of Life based on the original teachings of Jesus Christ.  A gnostic is a person who knows that salvation is gained through the acquisition of divine knowledge or gnosis.  When gnostics speak of salvation, they mean being freed from the illusion of separateness, and other illusions of darkness, so they can perceive Reality.

We celebrate a Divine Calendar of holy days such as Immersion of the Redeemer, Feast of the Last Supper, Crucifixion Day, Resurrection Day, Descent of the Redeemer, The Gnostic Feast of the Passover, Sacrament Day, Feast of Sophia, Day of Shofars, The Feast of Tablernacles, The Festival of the Masters.  Also, each month we celebrate a New Moon Sacrament Service, having fasted during the day.  These services are open to the public.  They represent the exoteric side of the community, while the esoteric side continues forward with people who desire more.
